JABALPUR: In a chilling rerun of the 2022 Chandigarh ‘video leak’ scandal, a female student at a tech institute in Jabalpur has been arrested for secretly recording inappropriate videos of other women in the hostel bathroom and sharing them with her boyfriend in Delhi.
According to police, the accused – a second-year student – had been clandestinely taking such videos for two years and was detected only because a student caught her in the act.
On Sunday, a boarder was taking her bath when she saw to her horror that another student was standing on a pipe in another bath stall and recording her from above. She immediately raised the alarm and reported the incident to the college and hostel management.
On Monday morning, a large number of students gathered at Dumna police outpost to file a complaint against the woman, but were told that they would have to go to Khamaria police station to report the incident.

Khamaria police station in charge Sarojini Toppo said the accused student is from Gondia in Maharashtra.
During questioning, she said that she had befriended a college student in Delhi on social media, and their friendship quickly turned into love. They decided to do something “new and sensational”, which led her to record videos of her hostelmates while bathing, Toppo said.
City SP Ranjhi Satish Kumar Sahu said a case has been registered, and she is in custody.
Police are investigating the allegation that she recorded intimate videos of fellow students without their knowledge.
